Meet the team behind First Light, led by our founder Neha Bose.
Neha is a passionate educator and entrepreneur who is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children. With over 10 years of experience in rural education initiatives, she understands the unique challenges faced by kids in underserved communities. Her vision for First Light came from years of observing how limited access to technology can hinder learning — especially when smartphones aren’t affordable or available.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make quality education accessible to all, regardless of their location or socio-economic background. We focus on creating tools that work even when there’s no internet — because rural families often don’t have reliable connectivity. Our offline-first vernacular voice tutor supports languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali so children can learn in the language they’re most comfortable with.
We’ve already distributed over 3,000 devices across villages in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. Each device is designed to last up to 20 hours on a single charge, ensuring uninterrupted learning during long study sessions. With just a ₹500 annual subscription, families gain access to premium educational content tailored for reading and math development.
